The St. John Passion is one of the most important and transcendent works of the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Written in the 18th century, this work of sacred music portrays the agony, death and resurrection of Jesus, reflecting his emotions and suffering.
With a new dramaturgy written by Sergi Belbel and with Jordi Boixaderas and Sílvia Bel in the narrative roles, Bach's Passion will vindicate the authenticity of all human passions in these times of political correctness. We will have the voices of Irene Mas, Eulàlia Fantova, Joan Francesc Folqué and Jose-Ramon Olivé conducted by Xavier Puig, who will once again lead this production by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.
Bach's St. John Passion is considered one of the great masterpieces of Western music. The spiritual depth, musical expressiveness and compositional skill make a true treasure of classical music.
