Arthur Cravan. Maintenant?
to
Museu Picasso Montcada 15-23, 08003 Barcelona

During his short life, Fabian Avenarius Lloyd (1887-1918), better known by the stage name Arthur Cravan, became accomplished as a poet and artist, and as a champion boxer. His unique combination of art and literature with the combat sport and surreal sensibilities made him one of the forerunners of the Dada movement, solidified by his roles as director, editor and sole contributor to the magazine Maintenant. This exhibition explores Cravan's time in Barcelona, where he mingled with prominent artists of the time, taught local boxing classes and and lost a huge fight against heavyweight champ Jack Johnson in 1916 before returning to the US.
