This exhibition at the Fundació Vila Casas’ Espais Volart is set up in two clearly distinguishable, yet entirely complementary, sections. In Volart 1, the foundation presents a selection of Llena's most important works drawn from different private and public collections, and which may serve as an anthology of his artwork. In Volart 2, there are five hundred drawings from the series SOS: senyals des d’un subsol (SOS: Signals from a Basement), which were made during the lockdown. They are a vast mosaic of work through which the artist enters into an intense dialogue with his main references (Piero, Balthus, Tàpies, Guston, Miró, etc.) and at the same time he responds in plastic form to the anxiety experienced during those weeks. Then, as a conclusion to the exhibition, there is one of his most magnificent works, the Viatge d’hivern (Winter Journey) suite: a set of 38 window boxes that line up and create a sequence and juxtaposition of images that end up merging together. It is a journey to the least known part of oneself and at the same time a compendium of his poetics of fragility.
