Brazilian jazz singer and songwriter Anna Setton is a unique figure: she shaped her voice navigating São Paulo’s nightlife, toured the world with the great Toquinho, dove into the realms of jazz, bossa nova and MPB, and emerged with a fresh, original and vibrant music, which she first showcased in her self-titled debut work in 2018.
The pandemic inspired her to pick up the guitar and perform weekly live shows, where she gave voice to some of the great musicians of Brazilian popular song. This dedication led her to produce Onde Mora meu Coração, an album of carefully crafted versions featuring collaborations with Omara Portuondo and Sadao Watanabe.
This new work, O Futuro é Mais Bonito, was recorded in Recife. With a modern and subtle production, Setton sounds playful, brimming with brightness, light and transparency, with her voice placed right at the center of the song, as it should be. She sings her own lyrics, increasingly establishing herself as an author, and is now touring with a trio, presenting her original songs from her three released albums and some unpublished pieces that will be part of her next project.
