Korean visual artist and director Im Heung-soon, winner of the prestigious Silver Lion for Promising Young Artist during the latest edition of the Venice Biennale (2014-2015), brings his first ever show in Europe to Barcelona. This exhibition showcases his audio-visual cinematographic works, Factory Complex (2014-2015) and Reincarnation (2015), which both demonstrate the historical trauma and ongoing process of modernisation and globalisation happening in Korea.
His projects are taken from the perspective of the older generations living in Korean society and, more specifically, Reincarnation deals with a group of women who emigrated to Iran after the Vietnam War. With a focus on psychological and emotional trauma that modernisation leaves behind in the aftermath of warfare, this exhibition is screening two very thought-provoking films which ask some very hard-hitting questions.
