The elegance of classical ballet and the passion of a new generation of American dancers come together in this story of love and sacrifice.

Composed by Ludwig Minkus and choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1877, La Bayadère is a tale of love, jealousy and betrayal set in India, centered on the dancer Nikiya and the warrior Solor. The work is especially renowned for the “Kingdom of the Shades,” one of the most iconic and technically demanding scenes in the classical ballet repertoire.
