Ambrose Akinmusire is a trumpeter and composer who has positioned himself both at the center and on the periphery of jazz throughout a career spanning more than 15 years. His tireless search for new musical forms leads him to mix influences from other genres and arts, creating poetic and daring compositions. With an innovative approach, his work challenges the boundaries of jazz and explores new forms of expression. Despite his deep connection to tradition, Akinmusire refuses to be confined by it, and his music is an invitation to break with established standards. As a rigorous and determined creator, he believes in the importance of invention and creativity, accepting the possible misunderstandings that may arise from this search.
Born in Oakland, California, Akinmusire began his career in high school and was mentored by figures such as Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. He won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2007, and has since created groundbreaking albums such as When the Heart Emerges Glistening. His music continues to captivate and break barriers, offering a unique take on contemporary jazz.
