Girl Band

These four Dublin lads will blow you away with their tinnitus inducing sound. A quick listen to their eight-minute long cover of Blawan's Why they hide their bodies under my garage? and you'll hopefully be convinced. This song is a perfect example of Girl band's manic noise-rock music.
Their debut album Holding hands with Jamie (2015) has not departed from their signature grizzly sound. The Beatles, Sam Cooke and even Daft Punk have been mentioned amongst their influences, although none of these will prepare you for their raw, unique sound. The inspiration for the lyrics came from a psychotic episode suffered by front-man Dara Kiely. He has since been speaking openly about his breakdown in interviews in a bid to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
It feels like this album is finally giving them the recognition they deserve. Listen to it, buy it, go to the gig, but mind your ears. Prepare yourself for a noisy but mesmerising concert.
