Perhaps all the terror of life is nothing more than a longing for the first moment, wrote Rainer Maria Rilke. The winner of the Institut del Teatre’s Dance Prize uses movement to explore the concept of first times.

Le Début is a journey through evocation, the search for paths already traveled, which are often distorted by inevitable forgetting and can be recalled through the reflection of a broken mirror. Memory seeks the gesture that started everything: the moment of debut when the world reveals itself for the first time and the body finds itself naked before the uncertainty of what is to come. The six performers face the conflict created by memory and reality, confronting their own peculiarities awkwardly, with humor, or with overwhelming intensity.

This collective portrait of first times emerges from the imagination of young creator and dancer Aleix Colomer Campoy. A graduate of the Institut del Teatre’s Professional Dance Conservatory and a former member of the IT Dansa Youth Company, Colomer has combined his training with professional stage experience from a very young age. Recently he appeared in Blood Brothers at the Teatre Condal. He has also taken part in other musical productions such as Fun Home and Priscilla. He is currently busy creating a new Barcelona-based stage project, TOTTRONTOLLA. Together with Andrea Muñoz Páez, he is developing a cross-cutting approach grounded in contemporary dance. Le Début is the company’s first production.
