A Georgian mother turns to surrogacy to secure a roof over her daughter’s head. What begins as a quick way to earn cash becomes a profound sacrifice, pushing her body to the extreme through multiple pregnancies. As her health deteriorates, her teenage daughter confronts her, questioning the cost of her choices and how far a mother can go.
Ketevan Vashagashvili is a documentary filmmaker based in Tbilisi. She is a Chevening alumna and holds a Master’s degree in Digital Documentary from the University of Sussex (UK). Her main interests lie in social issues and human rights. With 15 years of experience working across various Georgian TV channels and online platforms, she has directed and produced documentaries, series and television programs. She currently works at Georgian Public Broadcaster and has recently completed her first feature documentary, 9-Month Contract, produced by the Georgian production company 1991 Productions.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in English and Catalan. A film in the 2025 edition of DOCS Barcelona.
