2073 is a warning of the world that awaits us if we don’t act now. Ghost lives in isolation in a dystopian New San Francisco in the year 2073. The world is controlled by libertarians, dictators and technocrats. There is no dissent and no freedom. Everyone is under surveillance, people disappear and the net closes in on Ghost. Ghost bears witness to the terrifying threats we face: a democratic recession, the rise of neo-fascism, climate catastrophe and the intrusion of surveillance technology.
With archival and fictional images, the film presents us with a dystopia about very real threats. The screening will be accompanied by the panel The Psychology of Power: Attraction and Manipulation in Authoritarian Politics, with the director of the film and the journalist Manel Alias.
Film will be screened in original version (English).
A film in the 2025 edition of the Brain Film Fest.
