It doesn't take long after arriving in Barcelona to realize how much the city has to offer. Wonderful walks, fantastic entertainment but perhaps more important is the exquisite food and drink scene!
Take a stroll down Carrer de Blai and indulge in endless tapas. Enjoy the sights at one of Barceloneta’s many terraces while treating yourself to a paella. Get to know the historic Gràcia neighborhood while also educating your stomach with some of the most authentic cuisine Barcelona has to offer.
There is no lack of choice when it comes to eating out in Barcelona!
When the Pick & Pay team moved to Barcelona, we wasted no time in jumping head first into this vibrant scene. Few things are better than hanging out in a great restaurant, drinking a luscious wine and nibbling on some local dishes—it makes the conversation flow that much easier.

The Problem
Whether you have been living in Barcelona for a few years or are simply on a pleasure trip you’ve undoubtedly realized that Spaniards love to eat out. The sea of people, the clinking of cutlery and the buzz of conversation is a highly immersive experience which will undoubtedly make you feel like a local. But it does have its drawbacks!
Unlike in the UK or US, bars and restaurants have very few waiters. This means that usually one person attends 10 or more tables. It can be very difficult to get the attention of your server—particularly if you don’t speak Spanish or Catalan. The lack of menus in English can also lead to frustration when weighing your options. Communicating with your waiter and putting in your order can be stressful, particularly if the venue is busy.
Due to the laid back nature of the city, waiters won’t bring you the bill unless you explicitly ask for it. After the bill is presented, you often lose sight of your server when you ask to pay by card as they have to retrieve the payment terminal. These factors can be frustrating and leave you with a bittersweet taste. Particularly if you have a short margin of time when going back to your office, making it to your next appointment or (unfortunately) having to fly out of the city.

The Solution
At Pick & Pay, we are—above anything else—food lovers!
Food is an international language. No matter who or where you are, you should be able to have the best, stress-free experience when out and about in the city. We noticed that there is a severe lack of innovation in the city when catering to expats. So we set to work. After a year of development and countless conversations with restaurant owners, we came up with a solution.
“We want to facilitate food lovers the best possible experience when dining out.”—Alessandro Nati, CEO Pick & Pay
Pick & Pay is the most advanced online payment platform when dining in bars and restaurants. After scanning each table’s designated QR code, you can order, pay and call your waiter over in case you need extra assistance. Go to your favorite restaurant, order, pay and leave when you are ready. Save time, avoid stress and get the most out of your visit.
The team at Pick & Pay wants to help food lovers experience the authenticity of dining out in bars and restaurants in the city. For that reason, Pick & Pay is completely free for both restaurants and the end user with no registration required!
If you are a food lover in Barcelona, welcome home.
