
Royal Opera House performances live at Verdi cinema
A special treat for opera and ballet fans in Barcelona, as the Verdi cinema starts a year-long series of screenings of live productions from the Royal Opera House in London.
Kicking off today with Puccini's Turandot (8.30pm, starring Andrei Serban and Hendrik Nanasi), the performances will take place each month, with the aim being to provide an alternative outlet for opera and ballet in the city as well as a complement to the more familiar film screenings that the cinema offers.
The rest of the programme for the 2013/14 season is as follows:
- Wednesday 16th October, 8.30pm - Don Quixote performed by The Royal Ballet
- Monday 4th November, 7pm - Les Vêpres Siciliennes (Giuseppe Verdi)
- Thursday 12th December, 8.30pm - The Nutcracker performed by The Royal Ballet
- Wednesday 18th December, 6pm - Parsifal (Richard Wagner)
- Monday 27th January, 8.30pm - Giselle performed by The Royal Ballet
- Wednesday 12th February, 8pm - Don Giovanni (Mozart)
- Wednesday 19th March, 8.30pm - Sleeping Beauty performed by The Royal Ballet
- Monday 28th April, 8.30pm - A Winter's Tale performed by The Royal Ballet
- Tuesday 24th June, 8pm - Manon Lescaut (Giacomo Puccini)
