It's another glorious and sunny day in Barcelona so if you're out and about making the most of this beautiful 30ºC weather you may want to try one of these local thirst-quenchers to stay cool and hydrated. Personally, nothing beats a cold orxata on a day like this.
The Circuit Festival kicks off tonight for a 12-day marathon of parties, balls, waterpark shenanigans and club nights in one of the biggest gay and lesbian events of the year. To all the nay-sayers and party-poopers, the Festival has much more to offer than endless parties, however. It's estimated that the Circuit Festival has created around 900 jobs and is expected to rack up a scorching (and much-needed) €50 million.
Whatever will Barcelona do with all that money? It's obvious isn't it? The city will pioneer a scheme aimed at tourists involving electric bicycle tours guided by smart phones. No sweat! But if an eBike Smart Tour sounds too far-fetched, don't take my word for it, click here and see for yourself.
But while it may be too early to think about futuristic eBike Tours and though the cost of public transport may be slowly creeping up, August in Barcelona is best spent out in the fresh Mediterranean air, exploring the city's nooks and crannies on foot.
