World's biggest boat due in Barcelona
The biggest boat in the world will be arriving in Barcelona on September 13th. El Oasis of the Seas will be leaving Fort Lauderdale on Monday with 8,754 people on board.
Huge participation in the human 'V'
The human 'V' that is planned for La Diada (September 11th)—and which will take place on Diagonal and Gran Via, converging in Pl. de les Glòries—will have almost as many participants as last year's human chain. So far, 400,000 people have signed up.
Inditex to create Zara flagship shop
Inditex—the giant Spanish retailer who own Zara—has plans to create the world's biggest Zara on Pg. de Gràcia. The company will expand the present shop by renting 4,000m of the former Teatro Novedades, which is set to be reconverted into flats and shops.
Locutorios to smarten up
The Ajuntament is targeting locutorios (phone centres) in an effort to improve the city's aesthetic and to enforce signage rules. Local law states that shops signs must be at least in Catalan and must not stick out beyond the building façade. The locutorios will receive some government help with the cost (30%).
