Blitz - Talking about playing to type, hard man Jason Statham is in yet another action film. This time it's British flick based in South London. Statham plays a cop who's annoyed a serial killer, to take his revenge the killer starts murdering random policemen. According to most, looks nice but lacks depth. Not unlike its star then.
Resacón 2 (Hangover 2) - If you've seen the first one then this is just the same but in Bangkok by all accounts. The team behind this do little to the Vegas-based 2009 version except take out all the funny bits. Shame.
Soló una noche (Last Night) - Massy Tadjedin's directorial debut shows a previously happily married couple on the brink of infidelity. Set over one night, the two partners are tempted to cheat on each other with a colleague and old flame, in a will they, won't they scenario. If the action, which is at times lacking, doesn't do it for you, then you can always just look at the lovely faces of Guillaume Canet and Eva Mendes or get serious house-envy over the locations. Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley also star.
Confúcio (Confucius) - For this one, I'm just going to pull out some random words from the reviews: smug, painfully dreary, reasonably successful. Again mostly style over substance with pretty impressive battle scenes and lavish set design.
Hermano - Venezuela's Marcel Rasquin previously made music videos put this, his first feature, is sure to convince others of his talent at the cinema. Set in Caracas, it tells the tale of two young men, raised as brothers who hope to escape the slums of their childhood by playing for the city's main football team. The performances of both boys is remarkable, lighting up what has been a plot premise visited many times over.
