Alx Phillips gave up a life in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the northeast of England—famous for its beer and its football—for the streets of Barcelona in 2002. She works as a sub-editor of 'Speak Up' magazine, which is directed toward Spanish/Catalan students of English. Alx has also published in various travel guides, including 'Time Out' and 'Pulse'.
