Do you like this?

The last 10 years have seen Barcelona become a thriving centre for call centres. Lower wages than northern Europe and a continual influx of native speakers of all languages make it an ideal location for international call centres. Wages begin at around €8 an hour, with most places offering fixed, long-term contracts, although timetables vary greatly depending on the employer. However, for those looking for shorter-term work, there may be shift work or shorter working hours available. The job requirements depends on the company but many involve customer care and marketing.

Although few people would describe call centre work as a job for life, it does offer many advantages for a person looking for a stable first job in Barcelona or for some part-time work to supplement their income. Flexible working hours, use of different languages and an international environment are some of the attractions of call centre work.

Below, we list some of the larger employers and agencies in Barcelona.

Avis Contact Centres

The car hire company has its international call centre in Barcelona's World Trade Centre. U.S. Expats

Hi Jim. Thanks very much for your comment. Despite our British English, we're an international office and we consider ourselves a magazine for all English speakers, wherever they come from. Of course it's easier for us to offer advice on finding work for EU citizens but in our TEFL jobs article we offer suggestions on how non EU citizens can find work.

If there's something you US expats would like to see more of in the magazine or online, please drop us a line and let us know at: info@barcelona-metropolitan.com. Thanks again!

U.S. Expats?

This is a terrific resource for English speakers, however, I am wondering if it isn't limited to EU citizens only, as that is so often the case.
