This new ramen restaurant transports diners to the streets of Tokyo. Inspired by Kabukicho—an entertainment district in Shinjuku often called the ‘Sleepless Town’—the restaurant is set in a lofty space designed as a detailed replica of a Tokyo street.
“Ramen can be consumed at any time of day,” explained manager José Luis Jin Hu. “In Japan, you can see people eating it in the street even late at night, which is what inspired the restaurant’s decor.”
Coming from a family of sushi restaurateurs, Jin Hu noticed a gap in the market for ramen and joined forces with the Oishii brand, which also has a branch in Madrid, to create his own restaurant. Historically, ramen was a peasants’ dish, but Oishii has re-imagined the nutritious noodle-based meal and tailored it to European tastes.
