Versalles (Versailles) - 2008 release starring Guillaume Depardieu in one of his last performances before his untimely death at 37. Homeless Nina (Judith Chemla) is a loving but inadequate mother to 5-year-old Enzo (Max Baissette de Malglaive) who gives a very impressive performance. Chancing upon Damien (Guillaume Depardieu) in his shack in the Versailles woods she leaves her son to sort her life out.
Piratas del Caribe: En Mareas Misteriosas (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) - The fourth installment of the Pirates films. Johnny Depp is still Captain Jack Sparrow but they've left out skinny-minny Kiera Knightly for the curvier charms of new mum Penelope Cruz.
North - Documentary film maker Rune Denstad Langlo comes out with his first feature film and was awarded Best Newcomer at the Tribeca Film Festival for his troubles. His first foray into feature films is being described as an upbeat but offbeat Norwegian road movie. On finding out he could be a dad, ski athlete Jomar, now a ski guard in an isolated ski park after a nervous breakdown, sets off on a snow mobile with only five litres of alcohol as provisions.
El extraño caso de Angélica (The Strange case of Angelica) - Acclaimed film maker Manoel de Oliveira brings us a magical tale of a photographer who is asked to a wealthy house to take pictures of a young bride who has died. When he looks through his lens, the beautiful Angelica comes alive and starts to haunt Isaac from that day on.
Bestezuelas is Carles Pastor latest work and is the story of Fabio who for two years has been in jail. On his release his girlfriend Perla thinks they can start a family, as she has been waiting to do. Fabio's dying uncle has other ideas and calls Fabio to his greyhound race track to hand the business over to the crook. A love triangle develops between Fabio, Perla and Lillo, the odd-job boy at the track. Like the dogs who chase something they ultimately can't have, the three main protagonists do the same.
