A short round-up of the new releases out on Friday, March 5th:
Cazadores de Dragones (Dragon Hunters) - This is the spin-off film from a French animation series of the same name. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is amongst those lending their voices to the popular characters. In typical dragon versus slayer style, Lord Arnold wants to find knights to destroy the World Gobbler, who only wakes every 20 years to reap destruction.
Crazy Heart - Jeff Bridges is back to doing what he does best: playing a dysfunctional, out-of-luck character with a drink problem and a string of failed marriages. With echoes of the Dude, Bridges is this time a faded country and western star who is forced to take stock of his life after he embarks on a somewhat doomed relationship with music journalist Jean Craddock, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal.
El Corredor Nocturno (Night Runner) - Eduardo is a stressed insurance salesmen who goes running at night to escape the pressures that dominate him. On one of his runs, he meets a mysterious man in an airport who wishes to become a friend and benefactor. Directed by Spanish director Gerardo Herrero.
Los Hombres que Miraban Fijamente a las Cabras (The Men Who Stare at Goats) - Ewan McGregor plays a local news reporter who, while trying to get a story on the Iraq war (to show his wife that he's really worth something) uncovers the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a Special Forces Agent who reveals that he works with a special unit that has been training psychic spies. The film is based on a book by Jon Ronson that investigates the US armies deployment of New Age techniques in combat.
