Tristan und Isolde
The Los Angeles opera company bring Wagner's Tristan and Isolde to Barcelona's Liceu Theatre, a three act spectacular of music and drama. Based on the romantic poem written by Gottfried von Strassburg, and premierred in 1865, the opera became the inspiration for many of Europe's great composers, including Strauss and Schoenberg. The L.A interpretation is directed by Harvard University's own Thor Steingraber, and features scenery and costume by the Yorkshire-born artist, David Hockney. An epic in every sense of the word, this dramatic production lasts over four and a half hours.
