'Transmissions Part 1', Pape Seydi Samba Home
Senegalese visual artist Pape Seydi Samba, examines the universality of the struggle to control one’s own life.
Inspired by the artist Godfried Donkor, the exhibition is split into two sections - 'The Nation’s Red Echoes' and 'Wrestlers and Supporters'. These two contrasting themes of group protests and the audience/fighter relationship at a wrestling match are used to demonstrate deeply felt aspects of society.
Moving from photojournalism to pen to digital image manipulation, the artist captures his native Senegal in a way that raises a timely, relevant and important call to universal humanity revealing the commonality of all our struggles.
