Manuel González Rodríguez, AKA Tote King, doesn't have your normal rap background; he started studying English at Seville University and made it to the Second Division of the Spanish basketball league, before giving it all up for his music.
Tote King has been on the music scene for over a decade, playing briefly in the band La Alta Escuela before going solo and collaborating with different artists from his native Andalusia. He's spoken out against gangsta rap, made no secret of his leftist politics and been criticised for the lyrics and commercialism of some of his recent releases. Still, if you're in the mood for some Spanish rap, you could do a lot worse than head to Apolo to see Tote King perform.
If you can't make this show, he'll be back in Apolo on February 6th
