The Secret of Anabelle Veritas
The Secret of Anabelle Veritas is the second production by the recently-opened English Drama School, with the play written and directed by the school's founder, Julian Wickham.
The story, a modern Gothic tale, is based on Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Grey, and explores themes such as innocence and youth, and the forces that pervert them, along with our own mortality and concepts of beauty.
It's set in the unique setting of Eighties' London, when the city was in the grip of Thatcherism and the apparently unbounding capitalism that gave rise to overwhelming levels of decadence.
The play is performed in English - please note that it contains scenes of violence and sex as well as strong language.
