Joan Ponç 2
This exhibition is a tribute to Joan Ponç, the great artist that unfortunately left us thirty years ago, on April 4, 1984.
For his creativity that made him unique, the exhibition is committed to ensure and promote his work and demonstrate the great contribution he made to the world of contemporary art.
Together with Joan Brossa, Modest Cuixart, Arnau Puig, Antoni Tàpies y Joan Josep Tharrats, was founder of Grupo Dau al Set, the first breakaway group, which during the most difficult times in the country, he struggled blindly defending their advanced thesis.
Joan Ponç was pictorially the most representative of this movement. He always remained true to his philosophy of working with a personal language that distinguished his work from other artists. Immersed in his creative world without compromise, he became an unmistakable genius.
The exhibition is an example of the different stages of Joan Ponç's life, with works that have been selected with great rigor so that they can be presented to the public in their diversity.
In Space A, the exhibition holds oil paintings, gouaches and inks of the 40s, from the Grupo Dau al Set movement.
In Space B are oil paintings, gouaches and inks from the 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as a large selection of lithographs and engravings.
The tribute show is a way to express our feeling of respect and admiration for the great creator.
