The I Love You Project
Last March, under the request of New York artist Debbie Davies, residents of the barrio Raval could be heard saying "I love you" in a range of languages.
Over three days, Davies recorded 82 people saying those special three words in 18 languages. Using an electronic microscope, the images created become distorted in colour, light and contrast. Alongside these portraits, all edited by Kendall Smith, sound artist Julius Schon recorded voices and composed a soundtrack that celebrates the diversity of the area.
The project is the first in an ambitious worldwide initiative that will be reproduced in other cities.
