Teatre Lliure hosts a benefit performance entitled ‘De Damasc a Idomeni’, a series of monologues based on personal experiences of war and exile in the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. Audience members will be seated at tables throughout the room, eight members to a table, and actors will rotate between tables to give each audience member an intimate experience of the themes of each monologue. All proceeds go to the NGO Proactiva Open Arms, which runs a rescue ship providing medical services to up to 2,000 refugees per day on vessels passing through the Mediterranean. The fundraising goal is aimed at financing the operations of Proactive Open Arms for 15 days. There is no cost at the door, but audience members are asked to donate approximately €70 to the cause, with a minimum donation of €50. The performance is 45 minutes long and will take place at 8pm and 9.30pm.
