Born in Barcelona, flamenco artist Miguel Poveda began his career at the age of 15 in the flamenco clubs of Catalunya. 1993 saw him launch his professional career through a performance at the 33rd Festival Nacional del Cante de las Minas de La Unión (Murcia), winning a number of awards including the prestigious Lámpara Minera. This was followed in 1995 by debut album, Viente del Este. He is now touring in support of his most recent record, Sonetos y poemas para la libertad (2015), which presents 15 songs based on poems by classical authors and songwriters.
