Sam Amidon Home
Born into a family of folk artists, Sam Amidon reinvents local songs with the simplicity of a kid who probably grew up with a fiddle in one hand and banjo in the other.
His latest album I See the Sign is without an original track but the songs are put together in such a delightfully odd way that they are given a liberating feel. Trombone, viola, bass and acoustic guitar support a harmonic voice that soothes like a cup of soup in December. Associated with the likes of Sufjan Stevens and Iron and Wine, if Sam Amidon starts writing more of his own tunes he could well become a household folk name.
