The School are a Welsh indiepop group based in Cardiff. Owing their sound to Sixties influences The Beach Boys and The Shangri-Las, the eight-strong group had only played four live shows when they were signed in 2007 by Spanish label Elefant Records. Offering an infectious, hyper-melodic pop that you can simultaneously laugh and cry to, the British band bring their talents to Sala Apolo on February 25th.
Sharing the stage will be Cola Jet Set, a Barcelona-based indiepop duo who return to the musical fore after a lengthy breakup. Formerly a back-up vocalist, new lead singer Alicia provides sweet and cheerful vocals, while guitarist Felipe offers sharp hooks and finger-snapping rhythms. Performing hits from their third studio album El Fin del Mundo (2015), which includes song titles ‘Me Levantaré’ and ‘Nada, Nada, Nada’, grunge-lite guitar crunches and pounding drums are guaranteed with this young, effervescent duo.
Tickets are available from €12.80. More information here.
