San Franciscan Mike Schwartz, also known as ‘Mix Master Mike’, spins the deck in Barcelona next week as part of his 2016 international tour. The Beastie Boys DJ has had an impressive career, becoming one of the ‘greatest DJs of all time’ (USA Today), winning several battles such as the World Supremacy in New York and the DMC World DJ Championships, co-founding the turntablist group The Invisibl Skratch Piklz in 1989, and receiving the Grand Wizzard Theodore lifetime achievement award in 1995.
Most famously, he worked alongside the Beastie Boys on several studio albums, including Hello Nasty (1998), To The 5 Boroughs (2004), Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (2011) and more. Over the years, Mix Master Mike has become a recognised name on the dubstep scene, and his last album, Napalm Rockets (2010), combines a selection of dubstep tracks interspersed with hip-hop.
