From April 25 to June 15, 2014 the American sculptor Richard MacDonald, specialized in dancers and acrobats sculptures and linked to the Cirque du Soleil and to the Royal Ballet of London, will visit Barcelona this spring invited by the MEAM. It will be the first time that he will exhibit his work in Spain, called The First Twenty-Five.
This memorable sample of work shows off his 25-year career and everyone will be able to visit the exposition in MEAM’s first floor and in the courtyard. It will include a wide range of work that this sculpture genius has created over the years.
The beauty of human figures in movement has a universal meaning, that’s why MacDonald goes for this particular way of making art. He makes a deep and strict study of every subject he works on and what’s more important is that he bases them all on personal experiences. His work is permanently exhibited at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and also around Asia and Europe.
MacDonald has spent 25 years taking pictures of dancers from all around the world including the Cirque du Soleil. MacDonald is the only person authorized by the troupe to go backstage, he has unlimited access to this famous company, he also has links to the Royal Ballet of London.
The exhibition will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm
