The Can Framis Museum presents an exhibition of 40 works by the influential Albert Ràfols-Casamada (Barcelona, 1923-2009) which aims to emphasise the importance of his painting in the history of contemporary Catalan art.
According to historian and critic J.F.Yvars, “Ràfols-Casamada displays the sharp profile of the romantic illusion that we still call the complete artist”. The artist translates the classical Catalan tradition into his own sensibility, creating an art that liberates through spontaneity and expression of the subconscious.
Ràfols-Casamada is a key figure in the history of Catalan art who has brought us a vindication of painting, where the material poses as an object of art in itself. Pintura brings together fragments of his personal diary, as well as 40 works that express a dialogue with reality conducted through the silence of form and colour.
