One of the most important cultural events of the summer, the Festival Castell de Peralada brings together a line-up of top artists with performances ranging from opera to pop and flamenco, all set with the beautiful Peralada castle as a backdrop.
A colourful mix of musical theatre, dance, jazz, chamber ensembles, and pop, the Festival Peralada is a cultural institution, recognised by the European Festival Association, Opera Europea, the Spanish Association of Classical Music Festivals and the Spanish Association of Theatre, Festivals, and 21st Century Opera. This year's schedule includes names such as Paco de Lucía, Bolshoi ballerinas, performances of Wagner, Verdi, Bellini's Norma, (y porque no) Alejandro Sanz.
Located in the Alt Empordà, between Figueres and Cadaqués, Peralada is worth a visit and the festival is the perfect excuse to head north this summer. (Ckick here or go to com arribar at the bottom of the sites web page for maps and travel details).
