Verdi’s Requiem was inspired by the death of Alessandro Manzoni and first premiered in Milan in 1874. However, the classical masterpiece seems to transcend the bounds of time and place; music from the Requiem was sung at Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 and is undoubtedly considered to be monumental within the classical music genre. This month, a production will be lead by conductor Gianandrea Noseda at the Palau de la Música Catalana, for one night only. The ensemble of performers includes the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra, as well as vocalists Violeta Urmana and Saimir Pirgu, accompanied by the Orfeó Català choir.
Ticket prices range from €30 to €175 and the concert begins at 8.30pm in the main hall.
