Irina Santos creates her work based on the mantra that what we perceive is not reality as such, but the way we look at it. Beyond what we see, we sense that there is more. It is this belief, alongside the late Italian writer Italo Calvino's 'La Espiral', that inspired the creation of Santos's latest collection, Otros Lugares. This series features three distinct types of photograph—one which represent the desire to know, one which represents all that is hidden, and one which illustrates fear and anguish.
