A panoramic view of the main court
After nearly 60 years of high intensity court play, the Barcelona Open, also known as the Trofeo Conde de Godó, is world renowned as one of the best clay courts around. For ten days, the usually quiet neighborhood of Pedrables (in southern Sarrià-Sant Gervasi) echoes with the sounds of tennis balls and grunting efforts. In recent years, tennis stars Rafael Nadal (Spain), Juan Carlos Ferrero (Spain) and Todd Martin (USA) have grazed its courts. With some events as low as €8, this year's Open is not only possible but a bargain. Check the website for more details.
