A body is a physical and emotional place. For Barcelona-based artist, Mariona Berenguer, a living organism is a fighting organism, constantly in a state of change. Berenguer believes that the human body and the world around us are always between two stages: “To say that something is ‘between’ is, in itself, an identity, a fertile place of transition.”
Berenguer’s artwork takes a look at the structure of reality, formed from pairs of elements: light and dark, presence and absence, life and death. For Berenguer, it is their coexistence and the spaces between them that produce a fertile environment for ideas to grow. Her artwork peeps through these cracks to create dialogues between visual contradictions, combining sculpture with installation art and offering an original perspective on life’s ever-changing nature.
