The Museu Marítim presents a new temporary exhibition that examines the German attacks on the Spanish merchant navy during the First World War. Despite being neutral during the war, Spanish ships carrying certain goods were seen as being helpful to the allies so were targeted by German submarines. Eighty Spanish ships met this fate between 1914 and 1918, and this exhibition looks at the effect the war had on the Spanish commerce and society of the time. The museum brings together artifacts from its own collection, as well as objects from the Museo Naval de Madrid, La Filmoteca Española and images and film from the German Bundesarchiv.
