The Art of Printing
a work done anonymously by a woman
The Museu Diocesà presents a series of some 50 printed works from the 16th to the 19th century, all printed by women. Although they worked primarily anonymously, women were in fact quite active in all facets of printing. The curators of 'Muses of the Printing Press' contend that women were not only printing, but also sustaining and evolving the form, and often so active in their work that they were the sole economic providers for their households.
The exhibition runs to the end of January and will certainly appeal as much to a lover of books as a lover of gorgeous artworks.
