'Midlife' by Dana Ellyn
Dana Ellyn is middle aged and facing up to the "now or never" period in her life. She has left behind her comfortable world and begun a journey of continuous self-discovery, which she hopes to portray through this solo exhibition.
'Midlife' is the critical reflection of an artist who left behind the American dream and rejected the stereotype of the 'good wife'. Her paintings aim to show her former reality and teach others about the life and role she once chose. Ellyn attempts to demonstrate the hypocrisy of religion, portray ironic iconography, metaphors and provocative gestures and to counter the 'heresy' of being a childless woman.
