August is upon us, which can only mean one thing. The annual Mas i Mas Festival has taken Barcelona by storm and won't be stopped until every musical taste in the city has been entertained.
Over the next two months, a vast range of artists take to the stage in over 150 concerts in numerous venues across Barcelona. Now in its ninth year, Mas i Mas celebrates a diverse range of musical talents, with this year's festival set to be a gold mine for jazz greats.
To get the festival in full swing, vibraphone player Dave Samuels will collaborate with other jazz artists from the Barcelona Percussion Project. A former member of the Afro-Cuban group Caribbean Jazz Project, Samuels will unleash his latin vibes on August 6th.
Be sure to catch the The Miles Tribut Big Band kick off on August 31st, but not before Grammy-nominated Kenny Garrett performs alongside his quartet of contemporary jazz legends on August 10th.
String musicians Pedro Javier González and Horacio Fumero make a marvellous duo, blending contemporary jazz with traditional flamenco on August 11th and 12th.
Hardcore music fans are catered for with techno sessions from both James Holden i D.A.R.Y.L and Drome & Dr Res, while for those seeking infectious hip hop rhymes, R de Rumba is well worth a watch.
So whatever your musical preference, you're bound to find something at Mas i Mas to keep your eardrums happy.
