The MACBA Study CentRE presents 'El mal d'escriptura,' ('The malady of writing') a collection of more than 150 works of fiction by more than 60 international artists. The texts include works of academic fiction, poetic fiction, literary fiction and political fiction, and are culled from independent sources. In other words, this temporary library contains texts that have not been published by traditional means. Though not necessarily 'artist's books', they possess an artful attention to publishing, writing and form.

MACBA continues to collect and will add to the library as it acquires new works. What's more, a few works have been made specifically for the library. In fact, MACBA turns part publishing house itself: Barcelona-based Mexican artist Erick Beltrán will use the Study Centre to research and print his encyclopedia project, El mundo explicado (The world explained).
