Small though the exhibition may be, the photos give an intriguing insight into the lives, hairstyles and habits of early 20th Century students and what it meant to be Catalan in the Spanish capital.

The Palau Robert metaphorically cracks open the champers this month, to help La Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid celebrate its 100th birthday. A haven for Catalan culture in Spanish Madrid and a scientific powerhouse between 1910 and 1936, the Residencia saw many a distinguished guest go through its doors, including Salvador Dalí, Federico García Lorca and Luis Buñuel.
