This exhibition highlights the crafts that were, and remain, vital to modernisme, enabling this liberating art form to flourish from its birth at the end of the 19th century, right through to the present day where it remains ever popular. This exhibition demonstrates the skills of the many craft workshops from the modernisme period, from over two centuries ago, which artists nowadays are implementing, trying to revive such traditional skills amidst today's modern technological age.
Modernisme has its roots firmly placed in Barcelona, where the construction of Eixample was heavily influenced by the movement, establishing a legacy that provided Catalunya with some of its most important cultural heritage.
This exhibition shows how the arts and crafts of modernisme are integrated into a single idea of beauty, with nature as its foundation.
