Over 60 independent films from global directors will be screened in nine days of cutting-edge cinema as part of this year's L'Alternativa Festival.
Every year, the festival allows films that are unable to penetrate the circuits of commercial film production or distribution to be showcased, in a celebration of progressive, alternative cinema. The festival also provides spectators with a space for creativity and debate through workshops and seminars.
Sections in the programme include long fiction and documentary movies and shorts, all of which come under the 'official' titles; running alongside these will be work by new or little-known directors as well as workshops for true lovers of the cinematic art organised by film students from Catalunya and Finland, and free screenings at Pantalla Hall, while for the younger film fan, 'Petits Experiments' offers entertainment suitable for all ages.
Most screenings and events will take place at the CCCB, with certain films being shown at Cinema Maldà (Pi 5).
