John Mayall's first brush with fame came not through music, but from a bold decision he made as a rebellious teenager: to move out of his parents' house to the backyard tree house, which earned him a write-up in the town newspaper. After a trip to Korea, he moved back in to his former dwelling, this time with his first wife.
Growing up, he was inspired to play guitar by rock legends like Leadbelly and Albert Ammons, teaching himself to play the guitar at age 13, going on to become a well-known jazz musician.
After an intensive stint of touring, Mayall decided to take a break from the scene for a while to regroup. Now 75 years old, Mayall is touring again.
