John Baldessari (1931) is a US artist who has created a unique creative language and become one of the most influential artists of modern times. The show ranges from works he created in the Sixties, when he worked as a painter producing oil works on canvas—they are the survivors from Baldessari's 1970 'Cremation Project' when he burned everything he had created before 1966 that he still owned and kept the ashes from the fire in a book-shaped urn. Such a dramatic action epitomises the radical approach of Baldessari to his creativity.
