'I Was Here!' by Fasim
Red self-portrait with putxinela
Fasim returns to the city of his birth with a series of work in different formats.
The items on display are various portraits created using a variety of painting techniques that show personal friends, both present and absent, grotesque images of groups of figures and also self-portraits in a wild return to colour.
'I Was Here!' is a graffiti slogan about leaving a mark and showing your existence and that is what Fasim attempts to do with his paintings. Our work will outlive us and this ability to leave part of us behind is how the artist believes 'we play a trick on time, and wink at death and eternity'.
